Sabu Varghese’s tryst with Dubai began forty years ago in 1976, when he set foot on the shores of this land of opportunities in for the first time. But unlike most of the Malayali expatriates who came to Dubai at that time in search of better job opportunities, he could not remain content with a daily job. With his hard work and perseverance, he rose to the highest echelons of the corporate world in the Middle East. Today, as the Managing Director of High Star Contracting LLC, he leads one of the most reputed contracting companies in Dubai, along with Mohammed Abdulla Ahmed Al Khayal, founder of the company, and Shaji Job, the other Managing Director of the company.

Incorporated in 1993 by Mr. Mohammed Abdulla Ahmed Al Khayal, a prominent businessman from Sharjah, High Star Contracting Co. (LLC) is recognized for quality and innovation with a track record of several landmark projects. Personal History
Sabu Varghese, who is one of the most accomplished Malayali businessmen in the UAE, is a native of Devalokam in Kottayam district. Belonging to Parangottu House, he was born as the son of the late A Varghese, who was a government contractor, and Ammini, a home maker. After earning a AMIE in Civil Engineering, he reached Dubai in 1976.
Sabu Varghese started his career at Al Ashram Contracting Company. He joined the company as a site engineer and resigned after 13 years as project manager. Then he joined Golden Falcon Contracting, where he worked for five years. High Star Contracting Company, his own venture, was started in 1994. Till now, High Star Contracting has successfully completed around 103 projects. The company has around 400 employees among whom, 14 are engineers. The company effectively undertakes all works related to construction, including MEP works. The offices of the company are located in Dubai, sharjah and Ajman in the UAE and Kottayam in Kerala.
A pious person, Sabu Varghese actively participates in churchrelated activities and was a member of the church committee. He also undertakes a lot of charity works. His favourite pastimes include sports, reading and watching TV.
Sabu Varghese is married to Gigi Sabu, a post graduate in social science former employee of MoH, Dubai.
The couple has two daughters: Sherin Sabu and Merin Sabu. Sherin Sabu, an MTech holder in Software Engineering, is married and settled in Singapore. She is married to Venu George, a BE graduate working with Standard Chartered Bank. Merin Sabu MDS is married to Joe Alen MD and both are working in UK.
