More about the CEO

Gopu Nair, a native of Dhoni in Palakkad district, is the son of Gopalakrishnan Nair, an employee in BARC and Sathyabhama, a home maker. Born and brought up in Mumbai, Gopu Nair completed his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunication from Birla Institute of Technology, and Masters degree in Business Management from IBMR. In 1996, even while pursuing his master’s, he worked as an apprentice in the Electronics Division of Greaves Corporation in Pune. Gopu Nair started his professional career in 1997.

From then onwards till present, he worked in four countries spanning three continents from and has been associated with high profile and well-respected European, US & Asian companies in his field of expertise. His career started as a telecommunication engineer for Datamatics, India, followed by a short stint at VSNL, India, then at Greaves Corporation, India. His overseas assignments started at the Acer Corporation in the UAE and then with Despec – Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Holland, UK, Canada & USA, managing the International Sales & Operations and forming new Joint Ventures.

Gopu Nair moved to Tecom in 2001 and his responsibilities were related to the launch of a new telecommunication branch named ‘Du’. He was posted as a Senior Manager to handle the technology contractual during the launch of mobile network and has been awarded the coveted ‘Shukran’ award for exceeding his target and objectives. Once the brand was floated, he left the company in 2007.

Family

His wife Subhagya Nair is a creative artist and fashion makeup artist. She completed her education in London and Paris and has earned an MBA from a US University via distance education. She is interested in painting, sketching and special effects makeup.

The couple is blessed with two children—Son Ishan Nair and daughter Inaya Nair. Gopu Nair’s younger brother Kartik is also the part owner of Tablix and a major driving force behind the company’s success.
