K B Madhusoodanan, a native of Pallarimangalam near Mavelikkara in Alappuzha district, is a multi-faceted personality who has proved himself to be an accomplished entrepreneur, an established film producer and a talented actor. He is the Managing Director of Al Mafraq City Cleaning & Equipment Trading LLC based in Dubai, one of the leading waste management companies in the UAE. Passionate about films, Madhusoodanan has produced a number of Malayalam films which have been much noted for their artistic value. He has also acted in a few movies. Moreover, he is a doting father who has encouraged his children to pursue their artistic passions. His son Manoj Madhusoodanan is also an actor and daughter Roshni Madhusoodanan is a dancer and actor.
Al Mafraq City Cleaning & Equipment Trading LLC:
Established in 2002, Al Mafraq City Cleaning & Equipment Trading LLC collects and disposes non-hazardous solid waste to landfill and treatment facilities in compliance with the law and regulations of Dubai Municipality’s Environment and Safety Section. The company offers services in market segments including non-hazardous solid waste; residential waste from high rise buildings, communities (villas) and labour accommodations; commercial waste from hotels, office towers and shopping malls; construction and demolition waste; and industrial waste.
The tricolor trucks (blue, silver and maroon) of the company roaming around the industrial, residential and commercial properties, is a familiar sight for the Dubai residents. They maintain a large and relatively new fleet of well equipped vehicles, with over certain age routinely removed from operation. Film Producer and Actor: K B Madhusoodanan has made immense contributions towards Malayalam film industry by producing some of the most noted and critically acclaimed films. His first production venture was Vasthavam released in 2006. Written by Babu Janardhanan and directed by M Padmakumar, the movie won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Prithviraj. Kavya Madhavan, Samvrutha Sunil, Murali, Jagathi Sreekumar and Sindhu Menon were the other major actors in the movie.
Later he produced a few more feature films. Sooryan, a 2007 musical action drama, was directed by V M Vinu and the actors were Jayaram, Vimala Raman, Saikumar and Madhupal. Yakshi-Faithfully Yours, another movie produced by Madhusoodanan, was released in 2012. The movie was written and directed by Abhiram Suresh Unnithan, son of veteran Malayalam director Suresh Unnithan. It cast new faces in leading roles and the story was inspired by Aithihyamala, a collection of mythical stories compiled by Kottarathil Sankunni. Dolls, the movie released in 2013, was directed by Shalil Kallur. John and Jyothi Krishna acted in the lead roles. Ayal, Madhusoodanan’s yet another production venture released in 2013, had Lal, Iniya, Lena and Lakshmi Sarma in lead roles. The movie was directed by Suresh Unnithan and the story,
screenplay and dialogue of the film were written by Dr K Ampady. Ayal has won a number of awards including Kerala State Best Actor Award for Lal and Kerala State Special Jury Award for Direction for Suresh Unnithan. The movie also won Kerala Film Critics Association Award for the second best film in 2013. The other Film Critics Association Awards won by the movie include Best Editor Award for Sobin K Soman, Best Cinematographer Award for Sujith Vasudevan, Best Colorist Award for Reghuraman and Best Film Dubbing Artist Award for Sreeja Ravi.
K B Madhusoodanan has also produced a number of short films. They are—Jameela directed by Arun Kishore; Pankayam and Anaavruthayaaya Kapaalika directed by Preethi Panicker. Moreover, he has acted in a number of popular movies including Kanal, Saigal Padukayanu and Kattumakkan.
Philanthropic activities: Despite his busy schedule, Madhusoodanan finds time to help his fellow beings and uplift their lives. He has built houses for seven poor families. He has also helped a number of people with financial support for medical treatment and for building houses.
A Look Back: K B Madhusoodanan was born as the son of the late Bhaskaran, who was a businessman, and Ambujakshi. He started his career in 1979 when he went to Mumbai and worked as a workshop in-charge in a company. In 1982 he came to Dubai and worked in Kalfan Transport as a supervisor for 13 years. In 1995, he started his own company, Abdul Rahma Auto Repairing, which was later renamed as Golden City Auto Repairing. His next venture was Al Mafraq Garage. Then he started Mark Master Trading Co, Dubai, and Al Mafraq Jewellery (RAK).
Family: Madhusoodanan is married to Rajamma, a homemaker, who also helps her husband in business activities. Their son Manoj Madhusoodanan, an MBA holder from Amity University, Dubai, is the managing partner of the company. An upcoming actor as well, Manoj has already acted in three Malayalam movies. Daughter Roshni Madhusoodanan is a BBA student at Amity Univerisity. A dancer by passion, she is also interested in movies.
During his leisure hours, Madhusoodanan enjoys drama, art, reading, music. He also loves playing keyboard.
