Gurukulam Vijayan is the General Secretary of the first Malayali Organisation, ‘Indian Relief Committee’, Dubai and he has been holding this position for over fifteen years now. This organization came into existence in 1973, with the sole objective of doing charity services. It was also doing Passport service which no other organization in Deira-Dubai was doing.
He is also an active member of social organizations such as United Malayalee Association, Dubai Priyadarsini, Varkala Non- Resident Association (VARNA), TEXAS , OICC, Vidya International Charitable Trust, Sevanam, ORMA, Samskara and Santhigiri Cultural Centre.
Gurukulam Vijayan began his career in 1975, at the well known Dubai Petroleum Company as the Head of the Printing Department. The printing department of DPC has scaled the heights with his expertise in the field of Printing Technology. After 25 years of dedicated service at the Dubai Petroleum Company, he joined Al Abbas Group of Companies in 2000, as Operations Manager of ‘Copy Me’ and continued to serve there for a decade.
He started his own business Gurukul Advertising Gift Supply LLC, Dubai, in 2010, and is the Managing Director of the Company. Preswently, he is also Managing Partner of Mono – Electrical And Hardware LLC, Sharjah.
For the past 38 years, he has been in the forefront of organizing various events in Dubai and he is a person who has been upholding the cultural heritage of India in general and Kerala in particular.
He was the Stage Co-ordinator for Indian Consulate and the Indian Pavilion of Dubai Shopping Festival for several years since its beginning. He has received several Awards and Accolades for his services.
He was educated at Varkala Sree Narayana Gurukulam, and was send for studying Printing Technology at Kollam by the Gurukulam with an intention to start a printing press. And ultimately, after the completion of the printing technology course, he started the Mangala Press in Varkala Sree Narayana Gurukulam. He continued to stay back at the Gurukulam for fourteen years and managed the press. It was after training a dedicated team in the field of printing technology during this period that he left for Dubai.
Hailing from Medical College, Ulloor in Trivandrum District, he belongs to the Kunnil family of Manampur near Kallambalam. He is born to late Govindan an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi and a Freedom Fighter who has participated in the Salt Satyagraha and Kunjulakshmi a house wife.
.Gurukulam Vijayan is now settled in Dubai with his wife Sobha,a house wife. His only daughter Nitya Vijayan has completed herr Graduation in Commerce from Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham.
