Bava Haji Pandalingal, winner of the prestigious Pravasi Bharathi Puraskaram 2013, is a well known social worker who has contributed a lot for the welfare of the Malayali Community in Abu Dhabi, ever since his arrival here in 1968. He has also participated very actively in several developmental activities that had taken place in Abu Dhabi.
His keen desire to associate with the infrastructure development of Abu Dhabi, since his arrival in the country, led him to join ARABICON associated consultants, the consortium of British consultants responsible for the master plan & town planning of Abu Dhabi emirate and worked for three years for supervision of their construction projects.
After that, Bava Haji joined the Public Works Department of Abu Dhabi and spend four years in the design and project section. Later he joined a Construction Company and worked till 1980, holding responsibilities for the construction of multistoried buildings.
In association with the Indian Embassy, he made valuable contributions to the setting up of the Abu Dhabi Indian School as well as to help the Indian community during the Gulf war period.
He is one of the founder members of the Abu Dhabi Malayali Samajam, a registered association of the Malayali’s. He has also made remarkable contributions in the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Indian Islamic Centre, a registered association of Indian Muslims intended to promote the Religious, Cultural, Educational and Social activities as well as to look after the well being of the poor, suffering and the sick people, including the activities of repatriation, treatment etc. He has held responsible positions of the association such as General Secretary and Treasurer and continues to be the President even now.
Bava Haji is also one of the leading personalities who has actively participated in the formation of Indian Islahi Islamic School in Abu Dhabi and was a Committee Member for the past five years. Further to this, he is a founder member and President of the Al Noor Indian Islamic School established under the auspices of the Indian Islamic Centre.
Being a reputed social worker Bava Haji got several opportunities to receive the Indian dignitaries who visited the UAE on various occasions like late Dr. Fakruddin Ali Ahammed, former President of India in 1976, late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1981, former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 2004, former President Smt. Prathibha Devi Patel and late Prime Minister Mr. I. K. Gujral etc.
Bava Haji’s social activities does not limit to the Gulf alone. He is doing social service activites in Kerala as well. The Orphanage which he has started at Changaramkulam and the Al Falah Educational and Charitable Trust of which, he is a founder member which is running a CBSE school at Kakkidippuram in Kerala are a few examples for his activities in Kerala.
A Civil Engineer by Profession, he is also a business man Specialised in the field of Construction and Contract and is the Managing Director of Rapid General Contracting LLC.
Hailing from Kakkinipuram at Alankode in Malappuram District, he is born to late Abdu Haji Pandalingal and Ayshumma . His family consists of wife Khadeeja and a son Ashraf M.P.an Electronics and Communication Engineer with Etisalat and three daughters Razia Rafeek a house wife, Dr.Aysha Ashraf working with Taj Dental Hospital at Malappuram and Dr. Asma Hashif working with Sheikh Khalifa Hospital at Ummal Quaiwan.
