The Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam which was established in the year 1969, has made a mark in a very special way in the life of Malayalees across the length and breadth of the Emirate
It is an organization which is engaged in organizing sociocultural activities in the Emirate.
The Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam basically has a Ladies wing and Balavedi too which are very active.
It organizes Literary and Drawing competition for children, Sports and Athletic meet for the children and adults, Drama festival, Cooking competition for women, Iftar meet and Eid Cultural programme. Summer camp, Independence day, Pookalam competition, Thiruvathira competition, Onam celebration etc.
Even Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, who inaugurated the new building of Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam in Mussafah has described the samajam which was founded in 1969, as older than the UAE
“This testifies the importance of the Kerala community in the development of the country,” he said after opening the building. The Sheikh has also said that “The Malayalees were here to celebrate the founding of the UAE in 1971, by the nation’s founder late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,”
“The development of this centre mirrors closely with that of Abu Dhabi City and the UAE. I trust you had a supremely happy Onam. This facility will support a renewed sense of community activity.”
Addressing a largely Keralite crowd, he said: “Kerala is the most literate and sociallydeveloped state in India. You have made a unique contribution to the peace and prosperity of the UAE.”
The building houses a main hall, minihall, library and conference room. It also has badminton courts and playing area for children.
