Mangalath Murali

Mangalath Murali is a teacher working in New Indian Model School, Dubai since 1988, and is presently the Head of Malayalam Department. He is a prolific writer and an artist as well.

He writes poems and has developed an identical style which is inherent to him alone. He is a dramatist as well, who is active with the production of stage shows. He also writes scripts for dramas based on poems (dance dramas) and directs it as well. He has five stage productions to his credit.

He has to his credit five books published, of which three are Poems. The poetic ability that is inherent in him is much evident from these works. He writes poems in different forms and out of the five books that were published, three are collections of his own poems and of this, one is a collection of poems for Children which is proof of how much he understands the mind of Children.

On the other hand, another book is just opposite in style, and it is a depiction of the romantic personality in him. The book is a Collection of his love poems. The books of Mangalath Murali are also a proof for his literary talent and include “Adyaksharangal” which is a Collection of Poems with an introduction by Prof. Karassery and published by Lipi publications.

His second book entitled “Ammuvinte Ishtangal” is the Collection of Poems for Children and is published by Current Books and Cosmo Publications. The third book entitled “Jalathinu Parayanullathu” is a New Age Science book and it is a translation of Hidden Messages in Water written by Masaru Imoto and is published by Kairali Books.

“Pranayamozhikal” is the fourth book of Mangalath Murali and it is a Collection of the Love Poems that he has written. This book is published by Ala Publishers, Akam books, Kozhikode. His fifth book is “Laila Majnu” which again is a translation of the Nizami’s great Sufi epic.

To his credit he also has translated poems of great UAE poets such as Dr. Shihab Ghanem and Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.

His stage productions include: “Karuna” and “Veena Poovu” both Dance Dramas based on Malayalam Poet laureate Kumaranasan’s poems, then “Ramanan” a Dance Drama based on the Great Poet Changanpuzha’s poem Ramanan.

Another stage production, which again is a notable one, is “Ujjaini” a Dance Drama based on the life and works of Kalidasa and the fifth one is “Julius Caesar” a Dance Drama based on Shakespeare’s Drama.

Mangalath Murali is graduated from Nattika Sree Narayana College and took his Post Graduate Degree from the Malayalam Department of Madras University.

Hailing from Valappad in Trichur District, he belongs to the Mangalath family and is born to late Chandrasekharan Nair an Agriculturist and late Susheela C. Nair who was in the Education Department.

He is married to Bindu who runs her own business and have two children. Their son Shreerag is doing his Final year Degree Course at Symbiosis college, Pune, India and daughter Nanditha is studying in the 7th Grade at Our Own English High School Girls, Dubai.
